Iconic Vintage Peter Max GE Enameled Metal Wall Clock Rare and Highly Collectible :-

This is a fabulous vintage clock from renowned psychedelic artist Peter Max circa 1970s.

Originally manufactured in the 1960's, these clocks are becoming increasingly rare, and this one captures the artist's unique style perfectly.

As a child, Peter Max was forced to flee Nazi-Germany to Shanghai, China, where he and his family lived for ten years.

He was encouraged to paint from a young age, and would later study with the Art Students League of New York.

By the late 1960s, Max had gained renown for the very famous and recognizable "LOVE" poster (from the band from "across the pond".)

The print would become emblematic of 1960's pop-culture iconography.

This clock is a stellar example of Max's use of antique imagery.

Victorian ladies form a spiral around the center of the clock and are embellished with concentric circles and what can only be described as "trippy" colors.

The edges of the clock are decorated with groups of ladies in Victorian dress colored with vibrant pinks, oranges, yellows and greens.

Both the minute and hour hand are day-glow reddish orange while the minute hand is bright yellow. The second hand does not "tick", but rather sweeps in an unending, fluid motion.

There are a couple small attributions printed at the bear the bottom of the clock; the first reads "General Electric" and includes the company's logo.

This is followed by "Designed by Peter Max ©Peter Max, N.Y.C." where the artist's name is contained within a white box and printed in its copyrighted form.

The clocks mechanism is affixed to the reverse of the metal face and works perfectly.

There is a small hole on the gear-box near the top allowing the clock to be hung on a wall.

With only one or two teeny tiny surface scratches, we're thrilled to say that this clock remains in outstanding vintage condition.
