A FINE QUALITY 19TH CENTURY SILVER HILT PHILIPPINE (MORO) KRIS, ca. 1880 :-

In overall very good+ condition (as is) with smooth surfaces, 90% original polish, fine and sharp cutting edges and its original silver Hilt. The native made, 23 3/4", double-edge, (watered) steel blade with finely chiseled and engraved base and choice, smooth, steel-gray surfaces. The top of the blade (at the hilt) with fine quality wrought and chiseled designs and its original engraved silver inlay. Finely engraved and embossed, Sheet-Silver-covered grip with a traditionally flared pommel and sharp angular contours. Retains much finish with nicely engraved floral patterns, some expected handling marks and damages, at the pommel-cap. A fine untouched age-patina and some light tarnish. In overall very good+ untouched condition. Of high quality manufacture with a heavy-gauge native-made watered-steel blade with choice steel surfaces. Only some light discoloration and virtually no pitting. Fine quality engraved Silver hilt of typical Moro form. A nice example of a classic Philippine Insurrection Period Moro Kris, ca. 1880. Overall length, 29".
